Single crystal measurement of the magnetic fluctuations in triclinic Cu3Nb2O8:
Abstract: Cu3Nb2O8 is a helicoidal magnet which is also multiferroic and displays coupling between structural and magnetic chirality. In this proposal we propose to measure the magnetic fluctuations using MERLIN. Merlin is required because the the magnetic order occurs at an incommensurate wavevector in all three directions. A fully reciprocal space measurement is required. We have also observed a sharp magnetic excitations at ~ 30 meV on MARI. Using Merlin and the multi-rep rate feature, we can measure this excitation and the low energy fluctuations in a single experiment.
