Magnetic fluctuations in the presence of charge order – RbFe2+Fe3+F6
Abstract: We propose to investigate the magnetic fluctuations in a charge ordered magnet. Rb(Fe2+Fe3+)F6 is loosely based on a distorted Kagome framework with alternating chains of ordered Fe2+ and Fe3+ ions. This compound is therefore charge ordered and also displays magnetic order on both sites below 16 K. Strong diffuse scattering from fluctuations is present at higher temperatures. Merlin is required given that momentum maps are required to understand the interactions and dimensionality. Full three dimensional angular scans will be required. The proposal requests 5 days on Merlin.
