Investigation of La2NiO3F2 and defluorinted phases with Ruddlesden-Popper type structure
Abstract: Ruddlesden-Popper type oxyfluorides are promising materials for the use as electrode materials in fluoride ion batteries. With the insertion and removal of fluoride ions, magnetic properties can change drastically, turning such compounds from antiferromagnets to ferromagnets. In this proposal we will investigate the crystallographic and magnetic structures of La2NiO3F2 and its defluorinated phases La2NiO3F2-xHy. By this we aim to understand how the anion ordering in such compounds can affect the magnetic properties, which will facilitate a deeper understanding of the ferromagnetic properties observed for the defluorionated compounds La2NiO3F2-xHy.
