Production mechanism of polymersomes
Abstract: In the field of cancer research, radionuclide therapy is proven to be one of the only viable alternatives to chemotherapy in the case of metastasized cancer. In this context, polymersomes are attracting increasing interest as a an alternative to liposomes due to their ability to encapsulate a broad range of drugs, biomolecules and radionuclides. Because of the good synthetic control in the polymer industry, polymersomes, compared to liposomes, have a higher variability as well as an enhanced physical and chemical stability. The main challenge in the production of polymersomes is up scaling the formation process which required understanding of the formation mechanism. We propose to investigate the important steps in the formation mechanism using neutron scattering techniques.
