Characterisation of layered double perovskite electrode materials for Solid Oxide Fuel Cells using neutron diffraction
Abstract: The research on new anode materials for solid oxide fuel cell is extremely important for its potential to overcome the drawbacks of current state of the art anodes. In this experiment, beam time is sought for newly synthesized Layered double perovskite-type oxygen deficient materials (LnBaMn2-xMoxO5+d and LnSrMn2-xMoxO5+d (Ln = Nd, Pr, Gd, x = 0.0, 1.0). Initial x-ray diffraction/ electrical characterization on these materials is very promising. This proposal requests 2 days beam time on Polaris to perform RT diffraction on six samples along with in-situ experiment studying conductivity during the diffraction experiments as a function of temperature on two of the best performer samples in this series under dry Argon atmosphere. The outcome of this in-situ experiment will provide us a deeper understanding of the structure-property relationships within these new electrode materials.
