MUSR investigations of a new spin-1/2 kagome antiferromagnet Cu4(OH)6FCl

Abstract: Recently, barlowite Cu4(OH)6FBr have been attracting much attention as a new kagome system with a Z2 topological order, which may yield spin liquid state at relative high temperature. By using transport, NMR, neutron scattering and µSR, we have recently studied the magnetic ground state of Cu4(OH)6FBr compound, and found an antiferromagnetic transition at T ~ 15 K. The substitution of Cu by non-magnetic Zn in pushes the system to a possible quantum-spin-liqui state with spin-1/2 spinon excitations. Comparing to the barlowite, the isostructural compound Cu4(OH)6FCl, also exhibits a weak short-ranged ferromagnetism below 15 K. To compare with our previous µSR results on Cu4-xZnx(OH)6FBr measured at MUSR and EMU spectrometers [RB1720482] , here we further propose to carry out Zero-field and long longitudinal field (LF) µSR measurements on Cu4(OH)6FCl polycrystalline sample down to 50 mK.
