Continued studies of the temperature-pressure phase diagram of BiFeO3
Abstract: Bismuth ferrite is the most widely studied multiferroic material primarily due to the observation of both room temperature magnetic and electric ordering. Despite extensive studies the phase transitions as a function of temperature are still the subject of much controversy. Of particular interest are the structural pahse transitions as a function of both temperature and applied pressure. In our previous study on Pearl we demonstrated a Polar, R3c - Antipolar, Pbam - non-polar, Pbnm series of phase transitions with applied pressure. We would now like to extend our studies to investigation of the temperature/pressure phase diagram. It is hoped that these studies will provide further understanding of the complex tilt and displacement behaviour in this interesting material.
