µSR study of the magnetic ordering in the S=1 linear chain compound KNiCl3.
Abstract: We propose to continue our study of KNiCl3, a 1D S=1 linear chain compound. Our previous work has shown evidence for two magnetic transitions between 2 and 15 K. Experiments at PSI have allowed us to coarsly track this out, however from the muon spin rotation frequency and the damping, these should also be within the ISIS time regime. Therefore we seek to complete our study to extract the order parameters for these transitions using the MUSR spectrometer.
