Nature of the new field-induced magnetic phase in ZnCr2Se4
Abstract: ZnCr2Se4 is a magnetically frustrated spinel compound with an incommensurate helical ground state. It has a pyrochloremagnetic sublattice which is formed by Cr3+ (S = 3/2) moments. At low temperatures it displays a helical structurepropagating along the (100) direction. Magnetisation, ultrasound, and neutron-diffraction measurements revealed a yetunidentified phase at higher field. The details of formation of this, so-called spin-nematic, phase remain unclear. The maingoal of this proposal is to investigate the field-dependence of the magnon dispersion, and in particular the behavior of therecently discovered pseudo-Goldstone gap in this material.
