μSR Study on Superconducting IrGe
Abstract: In recent times, materials with low-lying phonon (for instance K2Os2O6 [1]) have attracted immense interest in an aim to discover high transition temperature TC superconductors. The so-called rattling mode is known to enhance the electron-phonon coupling and hence the superconducting transition temperature, TC. Very few superconductors fall into this category, therefore the exact pairing mechanism and guiding principle to design such a material remains unclear. Preliminary studies on 5d transition metal germanide, IrGe, indicate the presence of low-lying phonon, and therefore offer an opportunity to study the detailed pairing mechanism [2].[1] Z.
