Magnetic fluctuations and ordering in two-dimensional and ferromagnetic Cr2Ge2Te6:
Abstract: The proposal requests time to measure the magnetic fluctuations in a 2 dimensional ferromagnet where the dimensionality is set by weak van der Waals forces. We have previously performed measurements at low energies on MACS (NIST) which indicate that the fluctuations extend to much higher energies than possible on MACS and also the possibility of the existence of magnon decay. MAPS is requested given the low-angles required and also the better momentum resolution over MERLIN. The results will be compared with STM measurements currently being performed at St. Andrews on this material.
