Visualisation of Multi-component Ion Exchange for Oil Recovery
Abstract: Release of oil bound to clay minerals by exchange of bridging cations for non-bridging ones is postulated as a major mechanism for enhanced oil recovery. In this work we propose to directly measure this effect experimentally, and aim to probe what salt concentration allows removal of bridged organic molecules.
