Magnetic excitations in a candidate magnetic XY analogue of graphene
Abstract: This proposal is part of our research programme to explore the experimental manifestation of topological properties of magnetic excitations. The honeycomb ferromagnet is expected to be a magnetic analogue of graphene, where the acoustic and optic magnon branches have symmetry-protected Dirac linear touching points with characteristic dynamical structure factor singularities, not explored experimentally so far. Here we propose to reveal aspects of this physics by measuring the spin dynamics in a weakly-coupled two-dimensional XY honeycomb ferromagnet with strong spin-orbit coupling.
