Determining the magnetic depth-profile and interfaces of CoFeB/Pt THz emitters using PNR
Abstract: We propose to use polarised neutron reflectivity to determine the magnetic structure as a function of depth in ferromagnetic/non-magnetic spintronic THz emitters. Spintronic THz emitters illuminated by fs pulses of laser radiation, offer the prospect of broad-band gapless THz radiation emission with controllable polarisation. This experiment is aimed at enhancing our understanding of the mechanism of THz emission and in particular how the magnetisation profile as a function of temperature affects the amplitude of the emission. This understanding will provide the basis for further enhancements in emission efficacy.
